It’s been a few months since Matt Cutts, Google’s Chief SPAM officer, announced that he was taking a much needed leave of absence. Since then, there’s been a void of insight from Matt, so I thought I’d re-purpose some of his SEO advice for something more altruistic and potentially funny.
Without further ado:
Don’t buy links, earn them: While ordering a bride online might take away the complexities and challenges of dating, it can lead to many other problems. If you’ve got high-quality game, there will be plenty of ladies that will want to marry you organically.
Work the social scene: Going to social networking events doesn’t directly correlate to meeting a girl. However, by putting your signals out there, you increase the chance of getting linked (ahem).
Don’t worry about rankings: Avoid comparing yourself to other guys. Rankings aren’t important! If you are focused on the quality of a prospect’s experience, eventually someone will click.
Avoid duplicate content: Never use lines that women have heard before from other guys. Be genuine and you’ll find that you won’t be penalized.
Check your robots.txt: Make sure you’re not blocking women with a creeper vibe. Always be self-aware and optimize as appropriate.
“Not provided” will only affect a small % of queries: Don’t worry about what keywords drive attention from women. It’s not important. I promise. However, if you REALLY do want to find out what’s working in your favor, pay a friend to use the same spiel as you use and leverage insights for future strategy.
Matt, if you’re reading this–come back soon. Other folks, feel free to add your tips below in the comments.
